How to Swap USDT to Monero (USDT TRC20 to XMR)

Stablecoins are convenient, but USDT is fully transparent and the issuer can freeze addresses. Converting part of your USDT to Monero gives you a balance that is private by default. Here is how to swap USDT to XMR the right way.

Step 1: Choose the USDT network you'll send from

Step 2: Make sure you can pay the gas

Sending USDT TRC20 needs TRX in the same wallet; ERC20 needs ETH; Solana needs a little SOL. Without it your transfer will fail and the swap timer may run out. If you have no TRX, you can get some with a small BTC to TRX swap.

Step 3: Prepare your Monero wallet

Use Cake Wallet, Feather, Monerujo, the official GUI or a hardware wallet. Generate a new subaddress for this swap. A Monero address starts with 4 or 8 and is 95 characters long. Our Monero wallet guide compares the options.

Step 4: Set up the swap

Open the USDT to XMR swap page. Enter the USDT amount, paste your Monero address, and optionally add a USDT refund address on the same network you're sending from.

Step 5: Send exactly the USDT shown

Copy the deposit address and the exact amount. Check the network one more time in your wallet. Then send. Tron transfers confirm in under a minute.

Step 6: Receive XMR

Once the USDT deposit is confirmed, the swap runs and XMR is sent to your wallet. Monero needs 10 confirmations before it's spendable, so give it about 20 minutes after it appears.

Tips

  • Do one small test swap first if you're new to Monero.
  • Don't send USDT from an address that may already be flagged or frozen; the deposit could be stuck.
  • Remember that XMR, unlike USDT, moves with the market. Your dollar value will change.
