Why Crypto Swap Rates Change Between Quote and Payout

You see a rate, send your coins, and the final payout is slightly different. This is normal. Here is why it happens and how to keep the difference small.

Floating rates follow the market

A floating rate is recalculated when your deposit is confirmed, not when you first see the quote. If the market moves in between, the payout moves with it, up or down.

Confirmations take time

Every network needs confirmations before a deposit is final. Bitcoin can take 10 to 30 minutes in busy periods, while Solana or Tron settle in seconds. The longer the wait, the more room the price has to move.

Network fees

Sending the payout costs a network fee. It is included in the estimate, but fees on busy chains can rise between quote and payout.

Volatile pairs move more

Swapping between two stablecoins barely moves. Swapping a small-cap coin during a news event can move several percent in minutes.

How to keep the difference small

  • Send your deposit promptly after creating the swap.
  • Use a fast network when you have a choice.
  • Pay a normal wallet fee so your deposit is not stuck waiting.
  • Avoid swapping during sharp market swings if the exact amount matters.

Check the current rate and start a swap.
